First we discussed the homework worksheet (front side only) and went over the answers on the board

Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896)
  • separate but equal ruling

Brown vs. Board of Education (1954)
  • in Topika, Kansas
  • 9-0 ruling in the case for it not being separate but equal
  • ends the separate but equal law created by the Plessy vs. Ferguson case

  • Next we watched a Youtube about the Little Rock Nine.
  • Then we learned about the Race Roits of 1969 in York City
  • Finally we read articles with a partner to create a venn diagram comparing Malcolm X and Martin Luther King

P.S. Andro and I switched notes days due to my absence on Nov. 30th. He posted them late because we switched and I took his day.

    • Promised to represent American youth
    • First Catholic president

Bay of Pigs Invasion-
  • Cuba falls to Communism in 1959
  • New leader is Fidel Castro
  • CIA makes plans to overthrow Castro
  • Provided Cuban rebels weapons to overthrow Castro in 1961
  • Results: Failure, Castro's military crushed rebels and Kennedy looks like a fool

Cuban Missile Crisis-
  • Soviets put nuculear missile in Cuba-
    • America gets nervous- cuba is 90 miles away
    • Stand off between U.S. (Kennedy) and Soviets (Khrushchev)
  • Options-
    • Generals- Bomb Cuba
    • Liberals- Make a deal, we take nukes out of Asia if they take nukes out of Cuba
    • Plan of compromise
  • The Decision-
    • Navel blockade around Cuba
    • Soviets sent attack ships
